I Almost Collapsed at the Store. Was It Mounjaro?

I’ve gotten a lot of messages asking if this episode was caused by Mounjaro. And I get it. Anytime something scary happens to someone on these meds, it is easy to point the finger.

But let me be clear. I do not think Mounjaro caused this. If anything, I believe it delayed it.
Mounjaro helped me drop weight. It got my blood pressure and blood sugar trending in the right direction. It helped me start listening to my body in ways I had not before. If I had not been on it, this might have happened months earlier, and I might not have caught it in time. I know what this medicine is, and what it is not. And this? This was a wake up call from years of strain finally catching up.
Some people have asked what they can do to help. I’m deeply honored by the compassion and concern. This community has already done more for me than I could ever ask for. You helped me grow On The Pen from random YouTube updates into a real platform for patient centered news in obesity medicine. If you are interested in helping me during this rough patch, please just consider helping us grow. On The Pen doesn’t have to slow down just because I am. Share the stories. Subscribe if you can. Bring others into this space.
As long as I have breath in my lungs, I will be reporting and advocating. Sure, this may slow me down a tick for a short time, but you can help me keep building in the meantime.
As a personal update, my heart rate and blood pressure have been phenomenal. My wife has been taking exceptional care of me, and I am confident that there will be a better me and a healthier me on the other side of this. It’s going to take a lot of effort and a lot of work, but I have a lot of really special people committed to helping me get there.
Let’s keep pushing, together. Let’s keep telling the truth. And let’s keep showing up. For each other, and for ourselves.
