BREAKING : Lilly Extends Zepbound Savings Cards Through End of 2025

Updated: Apr 15

We finally have confirmation. Eli Lilly has extended the Zepbound savings card for patients whose insurance does not cover the drug. The same benefit that let people pay as little as 550 dollars a month is no longer ending in June. It is now running through the end of 2025.

Zepbound and Mounjaro Savings Card Update

This is something we have been watching closely at On The Pen, because for months the only official language said the non-covered version would expire on June 30. But now Lilly has begun texting patients directly, and they are saying it in plain English.

Let’s walk through what this means.

If Your Insurance Covers Zepbound

The savings card is still available and still works. This applies to people with commercial insurance plans that already include Zepbound on the formulary.

You can:

  • Save up to $150 on a 28 day supply

  • Save up to $450 on a 84 day supply

  • Use the card up to 13 times in one calendar year

  • And receive a maximum benefit of 1,950 dollars for the year

  • Card now expires 12/31/25

It is less generous than what we saw in 2023 and early 2024, but at least it is stable.

If Your Insurance Does Not Cover Zepbound

There are still two separate groups, and which one you are in depends entirely on when you first activated your card.

Group one is people who enrolled in the program before August 28, 2024. This is the group that originally had the better discount. They were offered a price as low as $550 per month. These people are now being told the card is extended through the end of 2025.

Here is what that card gives you:

  • Up to $563 on a 28 day supply

  • And now an expiration date of 12/31/25

This extension was confirmed by text message, but it is not reflected in the official terms and conditions page yet. This has caused some confusion. We will update this article when we have official word from Eli Lilly.

Group two is people who activated their card on or after August 28, 2024. This group is on the “pay as little as $650” version. These cards have also been extended through the end of 2025.

That version gives:

  • Up to $463 on a 28 day supply

  • A savings cap of $6,097

  • A refill limit of 13 per calendar year

  • And an expiration of 12/31/25

Also, both Mounjaro savings programs are good through the end of 2025 as well.
